I'm helping autocrat al-Barran's Midwinter celebration this year, and the theme is the Milan and Florence during the Italian Civil Wars, specifically during the 1530s. I meant to try to teach some classes much earlier in the year, but Personal Life won out, so I've only really gotten to do much about it recently. While going through web site after website, trying to find good paintings to show other people, I saw this one over and over. I'm not sure if it's the look on her face, the colors, or that lucious partlet, but I kept coming back to this one as the essence of what I'd want to wear.

I suppose this is it - I've decided that this is the dress I want to make for Midwinter. I'd better hurry up - I've got one month, minus one day to do it in!
